Remember when Portia de Rossi pulled out all the stops to honor her wife, Ellen DeGeneres, by founding The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund on her 60th birthday last year? Yeah, that set a pretty high bar. So when Ellen's 61st birthday rolled around last month, everyone was curious—what could Portia possibly do to top that? Well, as it turns out, Portia had a surprise up her sleeve, and it was absolutely hilarious!
When Portia stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on February 20, Ellen couldn’t wait to find out what her partner had come up with this time. “So, that was my 60th birthday, and then in January, I turned 61,” Ellen teased, clearly hinting that maybe this year’s gift wouldn’t be as extravagant as the last. “Uh, what’d ya get me?” she asked with a playful smirk. “Tell everybody what you got me.”
With a playful grin, Portia sheepishly replied, “Gardening tools.” Ellen burst out laughing and confirmed, “That’s right.” But Portia wasn’t done defending herself just yet. “She loves to garden!” the Arrested Development star insisted, clearly proud of her choice. “I do,” Ellen agreed, nodding with a smile. “I do.”
Portia’s Busy Year
Now, while gardening tools might not seem like the grandest gift, let’s not forget that Portia has been working tirelessly to bring Ellen’s 60th birthday present to life.
