Elizabeth II: 65 Years on the Throne and Still Going Strong

It’s hard to believe, but Queen Elizabeth II has been at the heart of the British monarchy for an incredible 65 years. Now 96 years old, she’s not just a symbol of tradition—she’s also a remarkably modern figure. Believe it or not, she’s way cooler than most people probably imagined. Picture this: a queen who’s not afraid to embrace new technology and break the mold when it comes to royal protocol. That’s our Liz!

In a recent conversation with Closer Weekly, Nick Kent, the executive producer of the documentary Queen of the World, shared some fascinating insights. “The Queen is incredibly media-savvy in ways that might surprise you,” Kent explained. “Even back during her coronation in 1953, she insisted on televising the ceremony. It was a bold move, especially since figures like Prime Minister Winston Churchill advised against it. But she knew it was time for a new era, and she wanted the world to witness it.”

Staying Connected in the Digital Age

Yvonne Browne, vice president of the Women’s Institute, pointed out back in 2015 that the Queen isn’t just stuck in the past. “She’s very much in tune with the modern world,” Browne said. “Like many grandparents today, if you want to stay connected with your family, you have to adapt to the way things are done now.” And adapt she has! From using a mobile phone to embracing social media, Elizabeth has shown that she’s willing to step into the digital age.

A Modern Monarch with a Younger Generation’s Touch

Kent also highlighted the close bond between Elizabeth and the younger members of the royal family. “She has unlikely friendships with people who are decades younger than her,” he noted. “There’s a real connection between William, Kate, Harry, Meghan, and the Queen. They’re all incredibly close.” Isn’t that heartwarming? We’re betting Elizabeth also cherishes every moment she spends with her great-grandchildren. Family really does come first, doesn’t it?
